PlayStation PC — PlayStation’s First Step into PC Gaming

A new label appeared last week from PlayStation, PlayStation PC. The name was registered by Sony Interactive Entertainment in April stated by the Corporation Wiki listing. This new label was changed from the previous ‘PlayStation Mobile’ and clearly it is a sign that PlayStation is serious about getting involved in the PC Gaming industry.

As we observed for the past year, it was clearly not something PlayStation planned overnight. Sony’s first modern PC ports were Horizon Zero Dawn in August 2020, Days Gone this May as well the latest release of Death Stranding Director’s Cut on 24 September 2021 for PS5.

After the release of Horizon Zero Dawn, Sony stated that it would explore bringing more PlayStation exclusives to PC in a corporate report published last summer.

Furthermore, during an interview with GQ magazine, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan says that PlayStation would bring “a whole slate” of PlayStation games to PC. He added the opportunity to bring PlayStation’s IPs to a wider audience with an easier port process, was considered “a fairly straightforward decision” for the company.
